Catski & Tour

In March we offer a combined week with snowcat supported ski-touring or splitboarding.

Spring is the best time to experience the silence and untouched nature of the remote mountains around the hut.

The mountains rise up to 2'688 meters. The huts are already at 2'100 meters. Most hikes have got less than 800 vertical meters. However, there are also some interesting round tours with 2 or 3 hikes and 1'500 and more vertical meters.

project X is located within the mountains so that the groups can start the tours directly from the hut. However, it is also possible to go by snowcat to an interesting starting point or the cat-drivers can pick-up the group on a more remote location after the tour. This way the group can increase the range of the tours significantly.

Depending on the snow and weather conditions, the group can also use the cat in the morning for catskiing and go for a half-day tour in the afternoon or go one day for a tour and use the next day the cat all day. On powderdays it is possible to book extra catski-days to enjoy more runs in fresh powder (surcharge 150,-€ per person and day).

The snowcats provide additional safety for the groups as a pick-up is possible when the weather changes, somebody got injured or tired.

The project X huts are located on the summer road to the remote high valley just before the pass. The ways are short and there are practically no downdays, since the hut is still below the tree line and tree runs can be started directly from the hut.

In project X we have up to 2 groups per week. Next winter we don't expect any other operation following our tracks. So it will continue to be lonely and remote - a real adventure. The huts we have build are very simple. There are shared rooms with bunk beds and a total of 3 bathrooms.

March is considered a good powder month in Georgia and there can always be heavy snowfalls. But of course the sun is already strong in March. With the combination of freeriding and ski tour we can make the best of the weather.

If we then leave the huts in mid-March, there is still so much snow that the transport is only possible with Pistenbullies. The access road to the pass is usually not cleared until May.
