Catski & Tour

In March we offer a combined week with snowcat supported ski-touring or splitboarding.

Spring is the best time to experience the silence and untouched nature of the remote mountains around Bakhmaro.

The mountains rise up to 2'755 meters. Bakhmaro is already at 1'900 meters. So from the lodge tours of up to 800 vertical meters at a time are possible. There are also some interesting round tours with 2 or 3 hikes and 1'500 and more vertical meters.

Bakhmaro is located within the mountains so that the groups can start the tours directly from the house. However, it is also possible to go by snowcat to an interesting starting point or the cat-drivers can pick-up the group on a more remote location after the tour. This way the group can increase the range of the tours significantly.

Depending on the snow and weather conditions, the group can also use the cat in the morning for catskiing and go for a half-day tour in the afternoon. On powderdays it is possible to book extra catskidays to enjoy more runs in fresh powder.

Also the snowcats provide additional safety for the groups as a pick-up is possible when the weather changes, somebody got injured or tired.

Bakhmaro is ideally located for direct access to a variety of different slopes. The distances are short and there are practically no downdays, as the nearest trees are always within reach.

In Bakhmaro we have up to 4 groups per appointment and meanwhile the abandoned mountain village is no longer as deserted as we found it a few years ago. For the December and March tours we use a guest house:
"Bakhmaro Base".

During our catsupported touring weeks, the focus is on the tours. The Snowcat is available for individual trips and full catski days are also possible for a surcharge.

March is considered a good powder month in Georgia and there can always be heavy snowfalls. But of course the sun is already strong in March. With the combination of freeriding and ski tour we can make the best of the weather.

If we then leave Bakhmaro in mid-March, there is still so much snow that the transport is only possible with piste bullies. The access road to Bakhmaro is usually not cleared until May.
