The first week of full operation is behind us, and it was a snowy one. Lots of fresh snow, but also strong winds, completely changed the situation in Bakhmaro. The slopes are filling with snow,
and the wind is filling in uneven terrain like streambeds. The small bushes and trees are now being buried...
The nights were very cold for Bakhmaro, with temperatures dropping to almost -20°C. This resulted in somewhat sticky snow. At the end of the week, the sun finally came out...
A temporarily very high avalanche risk, strong winds, and poor visibility meant that skiing wasn't possible every day during New Year's week, but the days that were were absolutely fantastic.
Endless face shots and plenty of cold snow. Maximundo, Phaphara, and Buksieti were simply amazing. Above the tree line, however, the wind left its mark.
And the New Year's Eve party was, once again, top-notch. This is a very special week every year, and we look forward to seeing so many familiar faces at the start of winter.
Since January 1st, health and accident insurance has been mandatory in Georgia. The insurance can be purchased online. We are currently gathering practical experience regarding its
implementation. Different sources provide conflicting information. Apparently, only Georgian insurance is accepted. However, the first group of travelers arriving in 2026 was not asked about
insurance.
We will continue to collect and analyze the experiences of the first group. We will then publish updates here.
During the season we send out a link to this snow report every week to inform you as a freerider about the snow conditions and the course of the season, to give tips for your tour and to introduce the team. Of course we also want to increase the anticipation. If you no longer wish to receive the link, you can unsubscribe from the snow report at any time. With the end of the season we also stop the weekly snow report.
